“Creating A Brighter Day”: Living and practicing the gospel of Jesus Christ brings great hope in life. Often, however, life’s difficulties persist even in the context of the gospel. As a therapist my life was spent helping people find ways to build skills in order to “create a brighter day.” This class will focus on practical skills found in “mindfulness practices” to enhance your life and “create a brighter day.”
We will define what mindfulness is, how it can help create a positive life outlook and philosophy, and give you skills to “create a brighter day”.
Mark Jardine Bio: Mark has bachelors degrees in English Literature (BA) and Music (BS) from the University of Utah. He also has a masters degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. He is now retired but he worked for 32 years for Valley Mental Health / Valley Behavioral Health as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW: therapist) working primarily with severely and persistently mentally ill adults.

Sponsoring Organization Info
Granite Education Foundation serves the 68,000 students in the Granite School District. Our students come from a variety of circumstances and backgrounds with 65% living at or below poverty, approximately 40,000 children. In partnership with individuals and organizations, the Foundation strives to fill the basic needs for these children. Support is given in a variety of ways including coats, shoes, hygiene items, and holiday assistance. Over the past few years Granite Education Foundation has become increasingly aware of the hunger epidemic among our students. In an effort to fight this hunger epidemic, GEF has partnered the the Utah Food Bank to provide 22, once a month, mobile pantry stops in Granite School District. GEF also supports 11 in-school pantries. The in-school pantries rely heavily on the donations of individuals and organizations. It is an enormous task that can only be done with the help of volunteers. If you are looking for a way to serve those in your community please consider a project sponsored by the Granite Education Foundation.
